content on homepage

- I wonder if somebody could shed some light on and very annoying problem I've got? If I create some more content and then enable it so it should show on the front page, it doesn't. I just can't understand what is wrong. The only content that is showing on the front page is what I have put on the main homepage.

This may be due to:
a) the way that you have the front page sorting settings set and
b) the number of articles that you set to display on the front page
Log in the admin backend and choose Menu/ Main Menu.
Click the Home link to edit it (controls the front page).
Edit the parameters related to number of items on the front page and have a look at how articles are sorted and adjust that if need be.

Okay, this is what I have done and the content now shows on the front page, however something weird happens and I don't know why.
Normally when I set up a joomla site, I delete all the menu items and start all over again after installing joomla. So for instance, I create a homepage and then link to that using link-content item. I think this is why it wasn't working when I selected the items to be shown on the front page. What I did was it is create another "home" button on the menu, this time, I pointed it to front page in components, rather than content item. Now something strange is happening, even though I still arrive at this page full of search engines, the page heading has changed to home, rather than the page heading I allocated that page. So now, its army surplus-home whereas normally its army surplus-combat camouflage etc etc. I just don't understand what's happening - http://www.Oscarfishlover.com - the website for great Oscar Fish advice and help

This is very strange. I have just been messing around with a test website and it seems that if you change the page had think, it doesn't actually take effect in the top left ankle on. I have included a link to my test website. So this means if you have the phone button on the main menu linked to the front page component, you are not able to give the homepage a suitable title, it will only have the title "home" this is no good for me, I need a good page headings so the search engines find the website.
I am back to square one again

I'm not sure what you mean Penn, "page had think", "top left ankle" help a bro understand!

In the example site that you gave, the links title appears in the browser title bar just fine it seems.

Okay, I had put the website back to how it was before. The home button was set up using link-content item, not linked to front page components. It seems that if you create menu item and link it to front page components, the page description stays at"home" even though you may change the page description, it doesn't change at the top, only on the content. For this reason, I don't use that because I want a good pae description so the search engines are able to find the website. So, I'm back to square one again. I can't get any other content to show on the front page. The obviously only works if you linked to the front page components.
By the way, the mistakes were down to my voice recognition, sorry about that

I have included a link to a test website, this may help you understand my problem little easier. This is exactly as Joomla was installed, the only thing I have changed is the name of the home menu item, it is now home page, rather than home. This is linked to the front page component. You will see that the heading is the same as the menu item name, I can't change it any other way. This is obviously no good if you want to optimise your website for the search engines. I know some people want their homepage just named home, I don't do it that way, I want to name it with a descriptive name. Is there any way around this?
