Re: How to change color variations without messing everything up?

O.K., I've had my theme up for almost a year and I've decided it's time for a color change (same theme, just different color variation). I'm using Colormatic.
Unfortunately, over the past nine months I've no doubt made many changes to the template based upon all the cool things I learned here. I have not kept track of the changes.
Now what?
What is the right way to change colors without making a mess out of everything?

Uh oh. No answers yet...does that mean my question is so painfully easy that it doesn't deserve an answer or so maddeningly complex that there is no hope?
Ahhh, I wish it was so easy! I didn't make myself clear before...
I've modified the template based upon many of the tips posted here--many involved editing the css file. If I change the html file to point to a different css file then, of course, that new css file won't have all of the changes that I made.
My thinking is that I need to compare the two files (new css style file, old css style file) and go through and make changes by hand...
Or, go through the current css and change all color codes to the new one (again, comparing old and new, side-by-side)?
Is there a less creaky way, one not rife with the potential for errors?

Oh wait, I think I see my misunderstanding...
Looking at the files directory I thought that "style1.css" etc were the actual css files that i was editing--now I see that "template_cs.css" is the file that I was editing and the color information is pulled in from those other files--thus my edits will remain safe and sound and just the color will change--as it should be!
So I guess this must be one of those painfully easy questions--I'm making things too hard!
