    • Hey guys,

does your templates and extensions that are compatible with Joomla 3.2 will be compatible with Joomla 3.3?
Can we go with Joomla 3.3 right after it's released (April 22, 2014), or you would recommend to wait couple of months?

    • Whether things are said to be ready for upgrade or not, its ALWAYS a good idea to wait a little bit before updating a live site. This is especially the case with Joomla. The developers of Joomla have tried numerous times to cram last minute updates into a release without enough testing and Joomla core itself broke sites. For this reason, its best to test updates on a test install and/or wait for others to upgrade and wait to hear feedback and see if any additional release notes are posted.

Anytime you upgrade your Joomla install or just an extension, you should take a backup of your site just in case things don't go as planned. Every website has a different configuration, different content, and different hosting, so always backup and test.

    • We tested some RocketLaunchers with the initial Joomla 3.3b1 release and found no immediate issues. That is not guarantee that things won't change before the final release of 3.3.0 becuase this has happend time-and-time-again where things continue to change, often quite dramatically, during the beta cycle. So it's a bit premature to say that everything will work day one when Joomla 3.3.0 is released because we've been burned before in the past. So far though, it looks promising that this will be pretty painless.
