    Cannot Access or Edit Overrides

Posted 12 years 1 month ago
    • When I go to Widgets it takes a long time to load and when it finally does after a minute or so and I choose an override it takes another minute or two to display the list of overrides in plain text, but it doesn't fully load all of the widget positions. See attached for a screenshot.

I've tried disabling and re-enabling Gantry and the theme itself, but no change. Other areas in WordPress are operating normally. This bug means I can't edit my site at all. Any thoughts?

I'm running the Clarion theme on WP 3.4.2 and Gantry 1.27

    • Hi, can you provide a link and login to your website - PM me the information.

This could be related to a plugin / widget that has corrupted some data in your database. Try disabling the plugins one at a time to track down what it is. From there, we may need to get into your database and clean out some data.

Disabling all of the plugins and re-enabling them allowed me to see the Frontpage override, but it removed the slideshow for some reason and still loads very slowly. When I try to add the RokGallery widget back I get this error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 31457280 bytes) in /home/vectron/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 931

I have numerous sites running Gantry with RokGallery without any issues on this server, so there shouldn't be any issues with memory.

    • Hi, the memory error always means you do not have enough memory to run everything on your site, regardless of other sites and settings.

From the looks of it, there is something going on with your database and RokGallery. I have your WP login, can you also PM me your FTP information and hosting login if possible. I need to look at your database - if it's what I think it is I can fix it.

    • Hi, I took a look. I placed a RokGallery widget in there and had no errors or issues. Not sure what was happening, but it seems to be fine now.

    • Thanks. It's working now. The only idea I have as to what may have broken it is that right before it stopped working I had used the RokGallery widget twice in the same Showcase box and they were both pulling from the same gallery. Sounds odd, but that caused the issue.

    • Thanks for the info. I don't really understand why you would need do that, but I would say that you shouldn't if it causes your site to crash. That's not really something we test for, it's a bit of an unusual application for the widgets. Either way, glad it's working now.

    • Hello,

      I have the same problem!

Should I install rokgallery plugin again?
How should I do that? What is the correct method?
And what about the data allready in the db? This is a live site.
The problem occured when I set the autoplay to on.

      Thanks,
      Yiannis

    • Upload the most recent versions of RokGallery and RokCommon via FTP into the wp-content -> plugins folder and replace the files that are there, this will not affect your database. Also, disable any third party plugins you may be using to see if there is a conflict.

    • Hello!

In order to upload the most recent versions I have to pay for another subscription. I will if you think it is nessecary. Third party plugins are disabled and the problem is still there. I replaced the files with the plugin in hand (october version) and the problem is still there. But I had a problem with the plugin in the first place and I installed it twice. So it is 2 times in the db and it shows 2 times in the plugins page.Only one though is active and working. Do you think that I have a problem in my db?

      Thanks,
      Yiannis
