I am running wordpress 3.5.1 and Gantry 1.3.1, When I install the wordpress Jetpack plugin the widget area stops working. Has anyone been able to fix this problem? I am trying to use the jetpack widgets but can not since the site is frozen when Jetpack is activated.
Wordpress gantry and jetbox break widget area. Any Fix possible?
From what I've read, there's a known incompatibility with the version of jquery gantry is built with and what wordpress is built with.
First, try disabling all other plugins you have installed to rule out another plugin causing the issue. From there - are you getting any javascript errors in the backend? If you don't know how to check that, error console in a web inspector, you should learn - but I can check for you if you can provide access to the admin area.
I'm not sure what information you're referring to, but it's nearly impossible for us to tell what is happening without actually seeing it and debugging for errors. We can't say if a fix is possible without knowing what the problem is. You can PM me you login if you like.

I've been having this problem for YEARS. I hate disabling Jetpack, only to forget to re-enable it and losing days worth of stats. Here's the error I get:
Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'spin'
and sometimes:
Uncaught Error: cannot call methods on sortable prior to initialization; attempted to call method 'disable'
That's all the error says? No line number or file name? It's not enough to go on, it might be a conflict, but 'spin' is not part of any product we make.

Basically, our themes are developed for Joomla, then ported to WP. Joomla uses MooTools, and we don't change the architecture of the themes much from platform to platform.

That's really nice of you. I hope they'll take it to heart! JetPack is probably one of the most-used plugins on all of Wordpress, as it's written by Automattic themselves and is the only plugin that enables the connection back to Wordpress.com, which is where many people get their basic stats from. They've also added two dozen other neat features to it (not as neat as RT plugins, but they do their best!).
All that said, every Gantry theme I've ever used conflicts with JetPack, which is probably frustrating a LOT of RT customers.
Devs are looking at it now, they've been trying to get to the bottom of it. Looks to be a conflict between jQuery and MooTools of some sort. I'll keep you posted.

One last thing: a simple search for "Jetpack" or even "spin.js" on your forum shows that a lot of people have had this problem. I even had a nice, long conversation with MYSELF about it back in November:
