For those who haven't spent any time on O'ahu, pidgeon (Hawaiian Slang) is actually harder to interpret than POME (Prisoner Of Mother England) speak...although there's a different accent every 2.5 miles or so in England  , in Hawaii some things are just taken "as is".
The most widely used term is "da kine"...it's an exaggeration of "you know" for those of us from mainland US and takes the place of the subject or even more confusingly (is that a word) the "implied" subject which is derived from the context of the sentence and/or from the instance it is used.
So yes, more difficult to decipher than "sauce pan lids"
Hey is Feb ready yet?
A Hui Hou.
Rich
And Terp...let's not even get into Southernese... I lived in NC/SC/VA for longer than I care to remember! But I do think you da kine too brah!

I'z all haolefied wen I first wen get to da Islands. I stay all hammjang already wit one bumkin accent - "Hi yall! How yall doing? Yall, going on down yonder?" but den I wen learn da kine.
LMAO
I was only five when I got to Hawaii. A tall, skinny, blue eyed, sandy blond little boy with a southern accent set down in the middle of Aliamanu crater. Man, I was like a fish out of water who had to learn real fast!
I was 18 before I finally left the Islands back to the mainland! I spent most my time barefoot and swimming like a fish! My first reaction when I got to the mainland was - I never seen so many white people in my life - you could go for days and that is all you saw. Plus, they all talked funny!
