I like it ... personally I would move the root menu items a bit down so the gap between the two lines and the menu looks equal.
Also I would think about rounded corners for the mainbody.
For the fixed background pic: I would choose something where I see bikes on the left and right of the mainbody (at least parts of it). That picture has it's focus in the middle wich is mostly covered.

Thanks for the hints Henning. Definately going to look into them.
WRT the background - this is actually an image that is randomly selected upon the site's first load from about 30 or so official images from the company HQ, so I didn't want to tamper with them at all. Also, I didn't really want the background to become a feature, and rather give the stage to the content.
