K2 zip image gallery + shows in back end but not front

I am desperate for heklp with this one and have been all over the Joomlaworks and SIG Pro forums but with no luck and no replies.
I'm using the free quasar template.
I've bought SIG Pro to work with K2 and I've finally figured out that to use the image gallery option you can't zip an image folder - you need to zip the images themselves and then upload that file. This gets me to the point where the image gallery shows in the back end. But on the front end of the item it refuses to show.
I have followed some threads about renaming the source folder in jw_sigpro.php (in the plugins/content) folder but that hasn't helped. I've checked the permissions on all possible folders (I think).
I'm relatively experienced Joomla wise and i think I've hit the end of the road - but I need to get this site up for a client asap, and the K2 image galleries are an integral part. I'll happily provide super admin access details to anyone who has the time to try and help me out.
