Change Date Format in RokSprocket Mosaic?

Posted 10 years 4 months ago
    • How does one change the format of the date in the RokSprocket Mosaic layout? I simply need a blog date, such as
      "3rd December 2014".

I would like to do it without a hack, so not to mess up future updates of the component. A laanguage override would be best, but that doesn't seem possible?

      thanks,
      Geoff

    • There's no administrative way to change that date format that I'm aware of... Ultimately it's just grabbing the date from Joomla; from the Article itself... but I suppose it's also possible that RokSprocket changes the format...

Are you saying you attempted to change the default Joomla Date format in the Language Manager, via an override, and that didn't work?

    • No, sorry, I am unable to work out how to customise the date formatting for RokSprocket (Mosaic) which uses this line to display the date:
      <span class="date"><?php echo $item->getDate();?></span>

Anyone know how to turn that into F j, Y?

      thanks,
      Geoff

    • Matt, as far as I can see the ROkSprocket is not using a language ini to format the date. None of the Joomla language constants match the date as displayed in RokSprocket. Yes I tried a few until I realised it wasn't using it.

Does anyone know how to format the date?

      thanks,
      Geoff

    • Gotcha.

I tore through all the files and I didn't see anything obvious... I'm not a Java dev by any stretch of the imagination though.

You might be able to target it down after the fact and change it with a bit of jQuery though....

    • Thanks Matt. It's weird that with all the flexibility of a RokSprocket, you can't customise the date display.

I don't really want to use Jquery for this.. hoping there was a way not to have to hack files.

      Thanks for your interest,
      Geoff

    • Please excuse my ignorance, but I am having the same problem. Can you walk me through the solution. I have read the link, but I don't know where to paste the code.

      Thanks in advance, AB
