SOLVED RokSprocket : transparency and "forced" auto slide

Posted 9 years 1 month ago
    • Hi there Rocket Theme,

I have two questions about RokSprocket.

When this module is loaded at first, it seems every picture is loaded at the same time. Like they are on top of each other. Which means I can't use PNG images with transparent backgrounds, cause we can see all images at the same time, it's a mess. See what I mean ?
I guess we have no choice but still, I have to ask this : is there a way to prevent this behaviour, so that I can use transparent background images ? (which would help in my specific situation).

Second question : the default behaviour is that the slideshow stops when the mouse is over the slideshow zone, which is fine in most cases. I'd like to know if there's a way to make it slide, even when the mouse is over.

      Thank you ! :-)

To speed load time of RokSprocket we load all the images in before the first one is displayed. This does cause an issue with PNG as they're transparent and slides the load after the first will bleed through as it is transparent. The only thing I can suggest is a "waster" image as your first slide. If you make it a JPEG then the other slides won't bleed through. As RokSprocket goes past the first slide it uses opacity or z-index to prevent bleed through of the other slides.

I think you put me on the right track, thank you !
Then my question is : if I used a wide 300 ko JPG image as the first slide AND called this same 300 ko JPG image as the background image of the module (in a CSS file), do you think the browser would have to load 300 ko or 600 ?

Give me the exact dimensions of the file you need.

Thank you, but don't bother : I had to give up with this solution cause it was acting weirdly. Like the image zone was getting completely black when making my browser window smaller. I thought it was a question of CSS but it seems to be something else. So I got back to 4 wide images with only a little difference each time (I wanted to use PNGs for the chaging part, keeping the wide image once as a background).

I understand that, and I'm not a paying member right now. But since this part of the forum is about RokSprocket, I thought I could still get help about RokSprocket. Am I wrong ?

    • Hello anyone ?

Could you maybe copy and paste the solution to my problem here ?
Or do we need to be a paying member in this forum about RokSprocket ?
I thought this section was "free", was I wrong ? Please let me know about it.

      Thank you.

Our Extensions are free but the forum support for these extensions requires some kind of Club Membership.

    • I can get that, no problem. But on one hand I can't access the link you sent me, on the other hand I have access to THIS forum about RokSprocket. So I guess there is a difference between those, right ? As a reminder, my question IS about RokSproket. And you even started to answer my question and then stopped. I find this a bit confusing. Please, I only want to understand how this works.

I didn't post there to be evasive it's just that is the proper forum for the issue. In essence one of our Devs came up with that solution because I asked him to. In the real world you would have to pay for his time. So I'm sorry but if you need solutions you need to take those steps that enable you to view the appropriate forums.
