Gantry Needs: Header Styling / Better Menu Styling

  • Gantry Needs: Header Styling / Better Menu Styling

    • First - I love the new Gantry 5 framework. This has completely revitalized my love for RT. I've been a member for 8 or 9 years now.

Now getting my hands dirty with Gantry I'd say there are two missing customizations I'd love to see:

Styling H1-H6 tags: Set sizing and color
Improved Menu Styling: opacity, sticky menu, height

I know you can do all of this via CSS or LESS but it's messy. Gantry is so robust now, why not just have this in there?

    • H1-H6 tags can be used in all sorts of different contexts so it makes no sense to have a "generic" setting for this. You can use custom CSS and then target the specific item that you wish to change. For example an h2 in a roksprocket will look different to an H2 in an article which will look different to an H2 in another extension.

We offer a limited range of styling in Gantry 5 admin. We can't do every permutation of styling in admin otherwise we would, in effect, be recreating CSS and it would slow down the G5 admin to a point where it would be unusable. Some of the template do offer "headroom" and "sticky" menus (e.g. Isotope) - but you can easily add this to other template by using the Free atoms available here http://www.inspiretheme.com/blog/freebies/42-fixed-sticky-header-atoms-for-gantry-5-freebies ,

We deliberately do not include all functionality in every template as otherwise the templates would get bigger and bigger and slower and slower with bloat. We prefer to keep Gantry 5 lean, mean and fast.

      Thanks for you feedback.

      Regards, Mark.
