Slideshow AOS.js in Elexir template broken after update to Gantry 5.5.19

I was updating a site from Gantry 5.5.17 to Gantry 5.5.19 when the slideshow module stopped showing the overlay text formatted with <div data-aos and flipped in a unstable way. In the console I saw a type conflict in aos.js
Downgrading back to 5.5.17 fixed the issue, but something is going wrong with this upgrade to 5.5.19 on the Joomla! 4.4.3. framework.
