Increasing functions in WYSIWYG editor

  • Increasing functions in WYSIWYG editor

    • Hi there

I use article manager alot for my site and i find the editor that comes with it is rather lacking in functions.

I have to use html to code my articles at times.

Is there a way to enable more functions in the editor? Something similar to JCE would be good

    • Well, what's wrong with JoomlaFCK, JCE, RokPad and the HTML buttons there?

    • Hi Prim

I'm still pretty new to Joomla so its still searching in the dark for me.

Things like changing font size, paragraphing, etc, i cant seem to do it via the editor.

What i would normally do is write out my article on word pad then copy and paste in article manager

Is there a way to enable these functions?

Or do i have to install JCE?

    • hi there,

you can try to change some settings in the plugin manager, for example for tinymce as seen in the screenshot:

anyways, if you are serious about webdesign, try to learn some basic html instead.
these wysiwyg editors can make your life easy but also really hard.

a great place to learn html is w3schools.com/

also, do not copy/paste anything from word etc into your joomla articles, those programs use code that has nothing to do in a website and can even break the layout completely.

    • JCE is your friend :)

      www.joomlacontenteditor.net/

If you find you need to use one i think the above is best, take a look and try it :)

For me Rokpad all the way :)

    • Retired, but build and run websites for organisations of school leaders and others - e.g. http://www.icponline.org, http://www.aspa.asn.au, http://www.appa.asn.au

    • JCE provides you with a window to use to paste in text from a Word document. That has helped me a lot - saves a lot of re-formatting of the text.

I agree with Alex. Install JCE and try it. If you don't like what it does for you, uninstall it and try something else.
