    • Hi all!

I was wondering what calendar for events do you use? I've been looking at joomla extensions but there are many of them and with more or less the same ratings and reviews.

So which ones do you use? Why?

      Thanks! ;D

Use the old Mambo EVENTS component. There's also an Events RSVP component that integrates so you can take signups.

    • I'm using EventCal, and it's working fine.

I'd like to use JCal Pro, but it does not allow for mini calendars to display only a given category, which is something I need.

They say that they will have it on the next release, though...

    • Yeah Jcalpro is fine if you have only a few events. The administration for Jcal is a real hassle with multitudes of events that dont fit the default, you have to make the same changes over and over and over and over and over and it gets old quick.

I think there should be a way to update your sites calendar via outlook
that would be so bad ass I would take the day off to thank God.

    • I've used Jevents (or the old events) for some time - though I'd like to move to Jcal pro - but won't beacuase of the same limitations above - can't do a mini cal for a single category.

None of the calendars currently support iCal interfaces (but then neither does the old version of outlook - I think the new version may do). In the past, as i use Events for a team fixture calendar, I've created a csv file and uploaded the data using phpMyAdmin.

Though some of the calendars look really good - there are limitations in all of them in integration with other calendars/daries/scheduing software. You really have to work out what are your most important features for you (display, interface, back end admin, front end update by users) and go with that option. And as all your data will be in the database, you should be able to export it and reimport it into your next calendar choice.

      Bon Chance...
