Hi rockettheme community.
I have some experience with the Word Press method. So I understand a few of the concepts but I am not a seasoned php programmer, or web expert.
My question to all is this:
If I need a new web site hosted in Linux and the following features would be desired:
Security for user and admin
blog posting from web community
Ecommerce with about 50 items for sale
stable operation (something i don't always experience with a word press install)
Could you recommend site method:
Joomla, Drupal, WP, BB3
then possibly a good template and additions that could work together for all the above
First off, as far as a CMS, you have to choose one, Joomla, Drupal, or WP.
There is no need to use all three.
Just one plus phpBB3 would suit your needs.
Here at RT, Joomla & phpBB3 are used and logging is synced between the two systems with RokBridge.
If you go with Joomla, for blogging can easily be done with Intense Debate (used here at RT on the blog) or JComments (used in many of the most recent template).
Security for admin and users should not be a problem if you keep your versions up to date.
If I were to suggest a template, it would be any Gantry based template that RT offers, any template from December 09 to present, that suits your visual styling (as the framework for all of them are the same).
Sorry but I can't offer you advice on using Drupal or WP as I don't know how you would bridge the forum, or what extensions are available.
