Which template would work best for me...? (Two new projects)

I've got two projects coming up, and I'm debating on either using one of the RT templates (love them!) or designing something of my own just using the gantry framework... either way I'll be doing a bit of modifying, but if I can save a bit of time/effort, why not, right? (especially since I am paying to use these templates!)
So... project one is a small Star Trek based club. They have 20 or fewer members, do a bunch of stuff outside of actual Trek related activities, including fantasy roleplaying, Star Wars stuff, and more or less anything fantasy/sci-fi related; but their club is based upon Star Trek... so something spacey (I would use the old LCARS template, but it is for J!1.0) would work best.
And... project two is combining sports gambling with hot chicks; nothing X-rated (maybe even nothing R-rated), but pictures of hot girls mixed in with betting picks and advice. As of yet the client hasn't really been any help with a desired visual layout of the site, other than I have a strong feeling any Joomla based template would be what they want... but it is being left to me to come up with the color scheme, and general look & feel.
So... any hints, advice, or other ideas?

For the Star Trek site: Zephyr with a big nice background or possibly Dominion.
It's harder with the gambling site as you have no colour scheme to work with but you can always study other sites. Just don't clutter it too much, focus on content

Thanks Prim, I was looking at both of those, I think either will require a decent amount of modification, but not too bad. I was also considering the Refraction template, because I love the transparency; however it isn't Gantry based, is it? I really like the Gantry benefits!
And yeah... I am really at a bit of a loss on the gambling site. I hate being given too little direction by a client, almost as much as those clients who like to micro manage every detail! I need some input, at least!
