User submitted stories

I want to be able to have users who sign up on my site be able to share stories. As in they can go to a page so they can add and edit articles.
Is this possible or is there a plugin/extension that can do this

I found the User menu and have that added, when I click Submit an Article I get 'You are not authorised to view this resource.'
How can I make it so users can submit article's.

Naomi, maybe I can help you out here. If you want just for users to submit an article, make them an Author from the back end "User Manager" Remember though, only someone who is a Publisher or above can publish the Articles that are submitted from the front end.
If you want them to submit and automatically become available without them being approved, make them a Publisher. I hope this helps you out.
I had problems with this in the beginning my self, even when I read the documentation and help section that joomla offers you. Some things are not always explained in ways that everyone understands them. If you have any more questions or problems feel free to ask again.
