Please Help! Some Site Loads Blank

  • Please Help! Some Site Loads Blank

Posted 14 years 3 weeks ago
    • Hello,

My subscription ended and I just renewed. However some of my site went blank. Does Rockettheme disable sites when the subscription ends? Not all the site are dead and I know its not a server issue because they are on different servers. Also I can't even access my admin area. What is going on? These are rockettheme sites.

      dead sites

any help would be appreciated. Thanks

      Fernando

    • When you join RT, you subscribe to the forums and download area for a specific amount of time (30, 60, 90, 180, 365 days) and purchase 'entitlements'. Entitlements = how many live sites you can use RT templates on.

Subscriptions expire, and when they do you lose access to the member's area, (template specific forums, etc.) and the download area. However, 'entitlements' never expire...

RT does not disable your sites in anyway if you are no longer a current member as they are the sites you are entitled to use.

Normally if you had this type of error, I would suggest switching to a default template and see if you could get your site to display properly, but as you noted, you can't access admin.

Plus the fact you say all sites are on different servers... Servers or hosts? 3 different servers or 3 different hosting companies...?

Can you confirm? 1 host, 3 different servers? or 3 hosts, same problem?

We've seen similar issues with 1 host, 3 different servers when the host does some major maintenance (usually solved by the hosting company). But the second scenario, 3 different hosting companies, AFAIK, would be a first...

    • Hello,

They are on different hosting companies. I have no clue what is going on. These are on 1and1 and godaddy. It's only effects my rockettheme sites. However only a few not all of them. I know for sure I didn't update these either. Have there been any issue similar to this?
      gpdaddy
      lbishow.com

      1and1
      negarkhaefi.com
      insiderexclusivetv.com
Also this test site is off too test4.fsquaredmedia.com

    • Blank pages usually indicate two issues, an incorrect version of php (recently another member had the same issue on 1to1 and upgraded from php4 to php5 to solve the problem) and a php memory limit set too low (shared hosting limits are usually set to 8MB while most of the newer templates need 32MB, optimally 64MB to function smoothly).

Bottom line, the templates should function normally on a fully compatible hosting environment (Rochen, Blue Host, Host Gator, etc.)

It's quite difficult to assist you as I (we) can't replicate the 'white screen' on on localhost or the hosting I (we) normally use.

I really thing you need to contact your hosting companies to assist you in troubleshooting.

(Although you have posted no specific errors pertaining to this, also please check to see if cURL is enabled.)

Normally I would also suggest posting your PHP Settings and PHP Info (Joomla Admin > Help System Info > ) but since you can't access the Admin section, I guess that's not possible...

    • They're throwing Error 500.
I don't think it's RT template related though.
If it is, you should still be able to login to the administrator area. But since you can't, then it's very likely the problem is more than just the front-end template.

JEM is right. You should talk to your hosting companies.

    • Hey Guys,
It looks like I got hacked. They have injected some malicious code to alot of the php files. This sucks. Does anyone know of a tool to remove it?

      Thanks

    • I don't know of a 'tool' that can perform a cleanup of a hacked site.

In cases like this, your best course of action is to revert to a recent backup.

If you don't have your own backup system in place and you've noticed this has happened in the past few days, contact your host and see if they have a backup you can revert to. Most host backup daily and keep three days worth of backups.

In the future, if you haven't already, set up a good 'backup policy'.

Back up before any upgrades, before installing 3rd party components, at the end of the day after adding a lot of content.

(Some sites are static and only need to be backed up once a week or once a month, some sites are quite active and require daily backup - but the rule of thumb is keep your backups fresh.)

Once you are backed up, make sure you are running the latest version of Joomla (at the time of this post 1.5.23)

Also make sure you have the latest versions of any 3rd party extensions you have, as well as the latest version of the template (though templates rarely pose security risks).

We all use Akeeba to maintain our backups:

Also check out the Joomla Security and Configuration info here:

    • yes all good practices. Unfortunately I didn't take that precaution with all ofe my sites. I am removing the code manually from about 350 pages. Let you know how it works out.

    • Fernando,
Would you please be so kind to comment how your malicius code looks like?, since I'm having the same issue, and I don't think it is the php version because I have 5.2.

    • There were two different codes. One affected the php files and had a number at the top of each page. If you have a backup or older version files of your site I would recommend upload and replace all the files on your website that are joomla related. This will overwrite the corrupted files. Definitely change your ftp passwords as well.

I don't have the code with me any more. Just in case upload the index.php from your root and we can view the code or just copy and paste all the code here and we can identify it.
