Template and Joomla update1.5 to 1.6

Hi
I've been using Joomla 1.5.xx with Zephyr 1.5 template for a while now and things are going well. Understanding the need to update to Joomla 1.6 and subsequently template to Zephyr 1.6....
What I need to know is what complications can I expect in performing such an upgrade? I have downloaded the new template and also 1.6 versions of all components, modules and plugins currently installed on the website.
1. Will exsisting modifications, such as logo, color scheme, background images, Gantry settings etc be overridden during the update?
2. Will the site site (frontend) look and functin the same, or completely diferent??
3. What is the order of steps to be taken to successfully complete the update???
I need this update to run smoothly will little to no website downtime at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

For J1.5 to J1.6 there is no official tool.

If you feel compelled to move from J1.5 to J1.6, your best bet is to develop the site offline until it's ready. - Thanks,
