    Yoo to RT transition issues

Posted 13 years 10 months ago
    • I have a site that I took down about a year ago. It was done using a (now older) Yootheme template. I have put the site back online but wish to move it to a Rockettheme template, probably Modulus or Tachyon. I have thought about just trashing the old site and starting it from scratch but I really, really, hate the idea of doing that.

Are there going to be any special issues that I should expect to run into if I switch from the old Yootheme to a gantry template? Are there certains things I need to make sure get done in order to switch the template from Yoo to RT (Gantry)?

I really like the idea of just installing a full package with all the Roc extensions built in and the latest Joomla 1.5 but that means a full re-install, start from scratch site. Is there any possible way to be able to pull items over from a backup of the old site onto a full install RT/Joomlal newsite?

    • You can export the content article pages and import them into the newly installed rocket theme site. At least that way you won't lose the majority of the content you have already written. There are existing plugins available to download and upload article data like that.

    • Thanks for the reply! The big issue is not the articles because there are only a few but the components. I guess its really a start over deal.

How about just switching the template to an RT template? Do I need to do a gantry install? What would be the best way to go about doing this type of switch?
