Agreed but Joomla 1.5 is still to be maintained for a year or so and in that time there will be migrations scripts available (there are some now) I see what you mean, my problem is that I am dependent on a few commercial extensions which haven't been updated for 1.6 yet.
RocketTheme makes more RocketLauncher Joomla 1.6, it's a shame it was easier.
Would be a lot easier, maybe this is something they plan for future additions, can't see why they don't do it now because I note that JoomlaPack has updated to Joomla 1.6.

Joomla15 is maintained until the mai2012, I checked with joomla community after May 2012 and will no longer be followed.
It would mean for me, who am redoing the site right now, that I must do it again after 05/2012.

Yes, yes I operated this way. My site (http://localhost/www.site.fr/jupgrade) I found that part of my site.
All RocketTheme extensions have not been recognized. It took me re-install. I also had the CCK K2 but was not recognized either.
As I was using a tachyon RocketLauncher J15, there remained in my site the articles.
So I install the extensions of J16 tachyon but the database had kept information from my site in J15. And then I had in my database twice the same components, twice the same modules as well as two times the same plugin. So my site just got lost.
I'm just re-install as I own a site. For now I can not find my problem of the line $ 21 gantry-> init (); For now everything is working properly.

RocketTheme makes more RocketLauncher Joomla 1.6, it's a shame it was easier. Now you have to install joomla1.6 RocketTheme template + + extension J16 and now we find it much more difficult overall.
Joomla 1.7 is to be release July 19 (just a week away)
My personal choice in this matter has been to hold off until at least January of 2012 before upgrading to version beyond Joomla 1.5 because while there are many assertions that Joomla 1.6 + is stable there are too many unknowns in those versions at this point. I choose to err on the side of caution and stay with what is reliable and truly stable. As far as security is concerned the security releases will continue to come as needed for another year with Joomla 1.5 and extesnions for Joomla 1.5 are more reliable at this point in almost every case as well.

So redoing the site in 1.5 now and then porting that site to Joomla 1.8 should be considerably less involved that a complete redo of a site.

Hello everyone
Migrating to J1.5 J1.6 is complicated by the fact that they have rewritten the entire code. It is a version of a ves migraion another.
When you go from J1.6 to J1.7 is a patch update, and it will J1.7 to J1.8 idem etc ...
If by 2012 there is a component as jupgrade able to patch (not migrate) J1.5 to J1.8 will be OK.
Not knowing is can happen, I prefer to make, passing immediately to J1.6 in this way it saves me any surprises in the future. Obviously it is more complicated at the moment but it is a good choice.
Imagine they are not powerful enough component to switch to J1.5 J1.8 will require a full rebuild that time the website.

There is no guarantee that you will not have any surprises with that path. My reasoning is based on the fact there are millions of Joomla sites that need to be ported from 1.5 and I am confident that the porting process will be streamlined considerably over the next 6 months. Having said that, I respect your decision and I have asked for some other moderators who use WAMP to look at your issue.

Haven't seen any errors you've mentioned with XAMPP.
