MissionControl - change names of admin menu items and reorde

Posted 13 years 9 months ago
    • heya,

I couldn't find a main Thread on MissionControl so I posted this in General.

      Anyway,

Is there any way to change the names of the menu items shown in the Extend Dropdown?

Eg. I want to change the name of a compoent so that my clients can understand it better. ie. sef404 to SEO Manager... that sort of thing.

I know I can do this in the jos_component through phpadmin but this doesn't seem to allow me to change them all.

It would be nice to be able to reorder them as well. :)

    • Hi, looked into this a bit. What you're talking about isn't a feature of Mission Control, those names are registered in the database by the extensions, usually during installation by SQL queries. They are sorted alphabetically by Joomla. Mission Control just displays the database menu it is given to work with.

All in all, it would be difficult and time consuming to accomplish this. Why not just set up buttons in the Dashboard using RokQuickLinks and explain to your clients to use the Dashboard if they get lost? You can set the titles, order and links however you like there. Just my thoughts.
