I have a eye disease by the name Retinitis Pigmentosa. You can read more about it if you like at :
www.blindness.org/RetinitisPigmentosa/
; For those that are lazy it is a incurable eye disease that affects people in many different ways. Some lose visual field, some lose night vision, some lose visual acuity, so forth and so on. As you can tell by their website there is a lack for a good community board to talk about eye diseases. They have a small board there but to me it's old school and people are looking for a new one. I'm wanting ot be that person to start it.
I have a site that has SMF installed on it already but I'm needing a few questions answered before I venture into this project. Is there any types of SMF themes where people can control the look of the site to their visual standards. Like I can see 20/20 but my visual field I only have 5-8 percent left, so I see like I'm looking through two straws. To someone else they will need the font to be very big and bold because they can't see the screen as well.
I know on our templates for joomla that some have this abillity to change text size on the site. I know that SMF has the abillity to change colors and the looks with themes. I just need to know if you guys have any information on SMF that would help me in anyway.
1) Is there themes where the user has total control over all aspects. Colors, size of fonts.
2) Anything that would help for visualy impaired people.
i know on some of the SMF themes andy did there is an option to widen/narrow the page and change font size
check out the themes here
demo.rockettheme.com/smf/
in theory those can be changed - ie the big font can be even bigger ect
there are also themes with style switchers - check out
www.tinyportal.net/demo/index.php?demo=leviathan
(this things like a tech demo of whats possible - check out the buttons in the top right) the text can be very big - but it does spoil the theme
what would be cool - would be an smf theme with the drop down control panel (from RT themes) that could have all the style changes
im pretty sure that would be possible - but then your going into custom work - so youd have to seek out a guy - unless you can do it yourself - or some guys here can help you
I'm sure that this is redundant, but anyhow, you can resize the font in your browser by holding the Ctrl key down and pressing the + or - key. This may break the layout in some cases if the font is resized considerably larger.
Best of luck and cheers.
