Joomla 1.7 no article on front page

I am a bit new to Joomla 1.7 and I see that there is not a "Front Page" column in the Article Manager. (Can you tell I skipped 1.6) So from what I can tell this is how one wold get an article to show up on the home page. However, I have an article that is marked for the home page but the article never shows up
as you can see here
. What am i doing wrong.
I also am not able to get any module to show up on the home page either. Arghhhh

the rocket launcher version comes with a few template styles already built-in. For the home menu item there is a style called "rt_camber - Home". This style comes with the display component and mainbody component turned off.
I turned them back "On" in the"Advanced" tab of the "rt_camber - Home" template style.

Well, now I have it all set up and it seems I do not need the main body after all on the home page. So I went into the Template manager, went to rt_camber - Home, and turned off the "Main Body Position" in the Layouts tab. However, I am still getting this white line at the bottom of the image of the home page. I am assuming that the white line is the result of the Main Body being empty. Am I wrong?

- Not sure what you are asking but there was an original post that had something to do with this but not a direct question. I was corresponding with Mr. Davis and then asked this question. basically this was OFF and he turned it on at my request, but now I need it off again. I am trying to launch this site today so in an attempt to do so and get an answer, I posed the second question I asked him in a new post. Hope that clears things up a bit
