Help with Download Link, Please

I have created a static content page with a link to a pdf file that I want someone to be able to donwload. The file is on my server and when people click the link and choose "save as" they should be able to download the file right? The link works fine outside of joomla.
I created the link by simple putting the url to the pdf file in the url slot of the link setup window for that content page. What am I doing wrong?

- I have hundreds of pdf's on a site and I first ran into trouble putting the links into my editor using the link icon. I removed the 'www' part and just used mysite.com/myfile.pdf and I've had no trouble since.
