Check my site speed??

  • Check my site speed??

Posted 17 years 10 months ago
    • Maybe it is just me, but it seems that since I changed my site (I am now using Elemental) it is now loading much slower.

Or could it be that I have too much going on in the front page, or maybe it is my service provider.

Could I ask for someone to tell me if the sight is slow if so could you give me some suggestions to make it faster.

      www.souheganhomes.com/

      Thanks in advance

    • A little slow before site is cached. Are you on a shared IP hosting plan -or- dedicated IP? Just a guess, but it may be the images with the pop-up views.

You also have many images missing causing multiple 404's
      Run firebug to see.

    • 22.65 seconds to load here.

      A couple of unrelated things:
      1) The NH Property Search heading is too long, it is "breaking"
      2) I was somewhat taken aback when I hovered over the "Buyers" link and saw the "Locate Sex Offenders" link. :o
      3) That footer is way, way too big, in my humble opinion.

How are you liking EZ Realty? I have used Hot Property and liked it okay, but was curious about EZ Realty.

      Cheers!

    • Thank you all for the comments. It seems I have some work to do and I need to learn how to use some debug tools.

      Roland-
Point taken on the sex offender link- one might think I was enabling folks to "hook up". I changed that. Thanks
Regarding the "NH property Search heading" breaking. Which one is giving you a problem. THe one in the left column?? I am not having a problem in IE or FF so can not see what you mean.
Yeah the footer is something I struggled with, put all the text in or not. I just recently added it so I will work on that.
EZ Realty is OK. I think the templates need some tweaking to make them work for the US properties, some terminology is strange. Support is very good. Kathy usually gets back with an answer very quickly. I have not used Hot Property so I can not compare. I used the other popular Realty program (Name escapes me) and I found that it was poorly integrated into Joomla so I abandoned it and tried EZ.

Is there a way to figure out where the images are being called out so I can figure out what images are missing?
I guess I need to learn how to use and interpret Firebug.
      Thanks

I am on a shared hosting plan and before overhauling the site with the new template I was loading pretty fast but it seems I have gone too far in cramming stuff on the main page. I am just not sure how to go about picking out the problem elements on the page to speed things up.

I really dislike slow loading pages. Any tips out there????

    • Just on my lunchbreak so I'll have to be brief mate - I'll revisit this thread after supper.

I forgot to mention Carl, the "NH Property Search" title that is breaking is on the left column - and I am running my monitor at 1024 X 768, fyi. Image attached of the problem.

      Cheers!

    • Thanks for clarifying.

I am using Firefox and IE with my monitor at 1024 x 768. I do not get the heading wrap issue shown in your attached picture.

So how does one test to make sure that the web page will look good for every one. Are there guidelines to follow?

Thanks for any help on this one

    • I am not sure why some of the missing images are being called by the page when it loads for example why is the template trying to load
www.souheganhomes.com/images/zoom-shadow6.png . How can I find out what is trying to load this and the many other images that are missing ?

      thanks

    • If you can get the access log for your site it can help hunt down the 404 errors.
The server this is on looks to be over subscribed which is one reason the site is slow.
I was getting connection disconnects from this server about 15 minutes ago.

I would look for a less busy server with a provider who doesn't over subscribe.
