    Full screen image template

Posted 13 years 5 months ago
    • I have a client that wants a full screen image rotator as his main page.

      He loves this template

      demos.themecatcher.net/storm/

      http://demos.themecatcher.net/storm/

What template can I use/customize to achieve this look?

      Rokgallery?
    • Thanks,

    • Hi

Tyndie made very nice plugin that works in gantry templates and uses Supersized jquery plugin for full page background images....also with slideshow.

      Check his file: code.google.com/p/full-page-backgrounds-webdogz/
And also his webdesign site: www.webdogz.co.uk/

    • I installed the plugin on my site to test it out.
      andykimmell.com/

I assigned the plugin to the Barry Frankel menu (under Photography)

It doesn't appear to rotate the images and I can't find a place to set the rotation time.

Also, can't figure out how to set the image directory.

Don't see any documentation with it.

      Any help appreciated.

    • Why not use momentum?

      demo.rockettheme.com/?template=momentum

it has a fully dynamic background rotator. Just need to use bigger image to mimic that site you linked. Be aware though that images that size will be big (in kb) so your site will load slower for sure.

    • Thanks Andy.

I looked at momentum, and told the client about it, but he doesn't like the space on the sides.

Wants full screen picture rotator. Can Momentum do this?

I get a lot of requests for this kind of template. Photographers and artists.

Maybe Rockettheme can make a full screen rotator template to satisfy this niche.

Now I'm stuck between smugmug customization or this "Storm" template he likes.

      I'd much rather use Rockettheme.

    • With momentum you can always make those bg images wider...so there is no space on sides. That is only matter of minutes to adapt it...you need to change your gallery setting and edit two lines of css. So that should be no problem.

Regarding your site, I was trying to open your site but with no luck...too many redirection so it refused to open.
And did you install plugin which enables more images or plugin with only one bg image? There are two for download.

    • Hi Martin,

      Thanks for the reply.

Can you send me the instructions to adapt Momentum so there is no space on the sides?

      Is there an existing thread?

Also the css lines to edit.

I took down the test on my site since it didn't work very well. I went to the download site and there were only two files and one was a release candidate.

I installed the template he wanted here:
      andykimmell.com/barry

I got it working but it's a pain to edit and it's html. I'd much rather offer a Rockettheme solution, but my client is so stuck on this "storm" theme I must duplicate it exactly or no sale.

Thanks so much for your help.

I too would like to know how you could achieve such a full screen background by making the images wider. I thought full screen background wasn't possible due to the 960 framework?

If it's possible with the css, please do share :)

I was also running into problems with the 960 framework restriction. Martin, can you verify that it's possible to do full screen images with the Momentum template?

My client wants rotating full screen background images as well, similar to the following designs...

      demos.themecatcher.net/storm/
      www.sap.com/index.epx

If that's not possible with Momentum, does anyone know how this could be achieved using Joomla 1.7/2.5?
