how do i get this to show up?

- Unfortunately I'm a newbie when it comes to Joomla. I'm attempting to put together a site right now and would love to have this on my main page (see attached screenshot, circled in red). How do I get that type of content to show up on the main page? I've tried a bunch of different things, but I'm still getting used to how it all works together and nothing I've tried works.
  
  I'm basically looking to get a piece of content to show up in the right side of my main page that shows a paragraph of text. Everything I've tried so far just has a link to the text, not the text itself.
  
  Any help would be appreciated.

- Looks like you need to register with the site to download the module and for whatever reason the site isn't loading up the registration page.
  
  Any other modules I can use or other ideas to try out?

- Nevermind, my friend showed me how to do it. It was actually very simple, too bad I spent a long time trying to figure it out

- make a custom module I am guessing. Put in the picture and the text.

- Yes, I created a custom module. I didn't realize that if you scroll all the way down you can add text and images for the "Custom Output" section.
  
  My only problem now is I only want that module to display on the frontpage, not on all pages.

- On the right hand side of your module page is a boc "Pages/Items" with a list of the pages in your site, just select the pages you wish the module to appear on, the default is "all".
