Grats to years of wonderful works by the most creative of graphical genious. Well, that might be a bit overboard, but the grats remain none the same.
We need new. Different, done with thought, different size fonts (I've spoke about this), we need less glamour and more refined. We need elegant, not oversized, we need a carefully thought out and crafted way of doing things that doesn't shut off what has been achieved here for years, but refines and moves in other directions. In other words, we need change.
Why?
Because it's needed. A new direction, more thought, and persistance towards those goals need be looked at.

Hi Prim,
Well of course examples can be provided. But when you state examples, are you wanting examples of sites, ideas, objectives, or overall idea of what the post was about?
With millions of eyes, we all see things different. With many brains working towards the same goals the scope and sight become more uniform, more complete.
What I'm talking about is "elegance" more so than "graphical". This is what I percieve as lacking with Rockettheme Designs. No harm meant. I love Rocketheme since Mambo! Pages that are elegant on the web are few and far between. But they are there. And they are nice. More sites are geared towards goals and objectives as each company or individual is trying to work out the background code and front page look to coordinate in the effort they want to make , not so much usability or in my opinion "elegance". I am just asking for "elegance". Why is it that every design has to be a big picture? Large background? Mutliple options between all of it? Might we do some work towards designing with other ideas for backgrounds? Smaller fonts? Better load times?
I'm not sure if others see what I do, but Rocketheme Designs are more so "all the same type design" than other sites that are competitors. In others words, if I were to guess, I would say it's the designs of a very few. Maybe 3 for all of the years the Rocketheme Designs has been here. And yes. I was there.
How about different? How about other ideas? How about not all designs being the same? I can see the same "in a rut" with others such as Joomlart. I can see the same with sites like "elegantthemes".
A big plus one to Elegantthemes. I wish he did Joomla!
Sure... Say the when and I'll post pages, sites, and ideas of what "I" as an opinion feel is elegant. And we can take it from there. But remember, this isn't about bad, wrong, or anything negative. Just about positive change towards seeing something new, elegant, different. I harped on large fonts and big buttons etc.. before. Nothing new here.
These sites are considered "elegant" in my view.

1) Smaller fonts, better fonts, and clear fonts
2) Smaller menu's smaller buttons, more page content or room for page content.
3) Less graphics and options, more focused and diligent effort towards clean and precise page representation.
4) Less focus on what shall we do next.. "a gamers, a shopping cart, a newspaper" type design and more focus on making whatever is created more detail oriented. This does not mean "larger or more graphics!" Merely, more detailed.
Honestly, if it doesn't happen, Andy gets the vote no matter what. He gives more away than most people even accomplish. So, please do understand that I'm writing this with utter regard and respect.

It's trendy and what people want basically.

I'm not sure i follow...
Might we do some work towards designing with other ideas for backgrounds?
I'm all ears, please share your ideas.
Smaller fonts?
That's a tough one since people are getting screens with higher resolution every year. One more thing to consider is the aging population in most countries. All that requires larger fonts.
Better load times?
That's really hard be cause we already try to keep the sizes of scripts, images, css, php and so on as small as possible. We also use cache features but you probably know this already.
Also, one thing that we can't control is poor hosting

- We need Responsive websites. Websites that look beautiful at any size, from a widescreen monitor to an iPhone, because the layout responds dynamically to the viewport size to optimize the user's experience. The current RT mobile settings are a step in the right direction but pale in comparison to a true Responsive website. I know the RT geniuses have the skill to give us this...do they have the time or desire?...I hope so...I love RT. I believe the Momentum theme is one of the finest in the world in its class! Wordpress has hundreds of Responsive templates.

The main issue with your views - which I am sure we all respect - is that every RT member has a different idea of the "perfect template".
For me, over the course of a year, I can use maybe 3 templates, but they are ideal for my purposes.
You or another members may choose 3 other, completey different templates.
I think RT do an exceptional job of listening to everyone, but trying to please everyone, all of the time, is near impossible
