    User Modules Banner OVER Header

Posted 17 years 9 months ago
    • I am quite surprised that no one of the templates till now have included user modules available for banners (not tools) OVER the header. When you see some of the websites which are now more successfull (in financial terms, I mean, not only with many visitors, but also with advertiser supporting it... or even autopromoting sites for sales) have one panoramic big flash banner (or two smaller ones, flash or not-flash) over the header. Maybe it's not so easy to create a module position over header in jommla, I don't know. But I'm surprised, that's all.

    • I thought a lot of the newer template have modular positions in the header area?

If not, there are a range of tutorials to change this as it is, in most cases, a simple process :)

    • Sorry, I'm not an expert, so probably I should read those tutorials.
However, perhaps my word was not exact. Instead of OVER, let's say ABOVE.
Even when there are module positions on the header, sizes are quite disapointing, as they are the ones if offered something above for just tools.
Let's say something like this (although there are many other examples):

      www.elmundo.es/index.html?a=9c6a011fff4b...3c6ec0a&t=1184525048

But probably my comment is due to a lack of experience. I shall check your tutorials. Thank you!

    • I think he's asking for a leaderboard. Many sites use them top - center above the site. Usually 728x90, or more. They are used for rich dynamic media, more than just flashing banner ads. Usually most RT templates only have 468x60. Another popular size on portals is the 300x250, and it never seems to fit anywhere.

Look here, they usually have one of each: www.cnn.com/WORLD/

    • Well, Mack, I'm not sure wether the name is leaderboard. Maybe you are right, although in your link to CNN I don't see any. But it is so: top, center, abouve the site. Maybe I'm not good at this, but I haven't seen helpful the tutorials. Yes, they are to create some new module positions, but maybe I'm not doing well at trying to create a position above header. I'll keep trying. (The most complicated I see, the most rewarding will be, isn't it?) Thank you
