    • Hello ,
can anyone help me please , i installed the rocketlauncher reflex template and joomla database ,and all worked well , i spent all evening putting my new website together basically working from the reflex sample and changing it to what i needed , which was all working and looking great.
the next day i logged back into the admin to do some more and the whole template , all its modules and articles had vanished , gone , disapeared without a trace
the website still worked so i'm assuming the files stayed on the server file thing but where did everything go from the database ?

i started from scratch again , reinstalled everything and low and behold the next day it did it again ,
where am, i going wrong ????????

The annoying thing is that i set everything up in another domain to practice before i moved onto my real website and everything has stayed the same in that one , so why does it work on one and not the other ???????

do i need to click on something particular when installing the database or is there a setting in the admin section i need to click on to stop it deleting everything when i come out of it ?

      thanks
      Dave

    • WHOA!!
Okay lets start from the beginning so we're on the same page when describing things.
For Joomla 2.5 we offer 3 installation packages:
      1. RocketLauncher which is a Joomla core, the Gantry framework and the template itself.
This package needs an empty folder and you get your Joomla core installed, the Gantry framework and the template including "Sample Data" to make the site look like the demo.

      2. Bundle which is the Gantry framework and the template itself.
This package is used when there is a Joomla installation with a non-Rockettheme template installed. After installation you have the required the Gantry framework and the template. No "Sample Data" is offered as your Database already contains content information.
      3. Template Standalone which is the template itself.
This package is used when there is a Joomla installation with a Rockettheme template installed. Since Gantry would have been previously installed, it's only required to install the template. Again no "Sample Data" is offered as your Database already contains content information.

So you're never really installing a "Joomla Database" with RocketLauncher, just importing the Sample Data into the DB that the Joomla part of RocketLauncher populated.

Joomla can't delete tables in your DB, only you can do that, usually with PhpMyAdmin. Joomla can only changes contents of the tables.
So when you couldn't access your back-end and the front end was still functional, for the most part your DB was still intact.
It could have been as something as simple as a permission change on a critical folder or file that prevented you from accessing your back-end (ooohh that sounds strange  )
Are the two domains on the same hosting server?

To get a handle of whats going on, I would suggest re-install the RocketLauncher on the problematic domain and then use Akeeba Backup to make a SITE backup (all files & DB).
Then grab your Apache error logs and save the text output.
When your back-end messes up again, check the Apache error logs again and compare to the other set to see what's causing this behaviour.
