Building an own club system - how does rockettheme work?

Hi,
I want to build a site, where you have to pay for some content.
Almost the same as it is here at RocketTheme.
Which components do I need?
My first thoughts went to CommunityBuilder and some other components,
but AFAIK RocketTheme don't use CBE.
So how is it realized here?

You can look at AEC - Account Expiration Control . It does the job pretty well, will integrate with JACLPlus and CB and allows you to set up multiple payment plans and supports a few of the most popular payment gateways.
