Joomla Member looking to buy Wordpress Theme...

Posted 13 years 2 months ago
    • Hi, I am currently a Joomla member so I can only see the Joomla forums... for a different website, I want to buy the entropy theme but had a few questions... if this isn't the right place to post this, then please tell me where to post it? I'd love to post it in Wordpress area but I don't have access to them...

This is regarding the Entropy Wordpress theme:
      demo.rockettheme.com/wordpress/?theme=entropy

      (1) Will RokGallery work in it, and if so do I need to buy RokGallery or is it included? IIRC I'm also part of the extensions club but I'm not 100% sure on that.
(1a) If I have RokGallery will I be able to put it large on the top center sort of like it is in the Reflex template?

      (2) I'm very confused about the way the typefaces display in various Presets... are those fonts included and will they just show up looking that way? Or is there some sort of addon needed? Especially in presets 4,5,6 will the scripty text overlap the bolder text like on the "march 15-17" overlapping the "Hyperactive" part?

      (3) How can I find out what typeface is being used on the "March 15-17" text on Presets 4,5, and 6? I ask because I'd like to purchase that typeface so I can use it on our printed marketing materials, etc. Really, I'd like to get ahold of all or most of the included fonts so that our printed materials can match the website....

Any help is greatly appreciated because we had already chosen a website template and removed our entire website, then my "boss" decided she didn't like it and wants Entropy...

    • The answers you seek are in the WordPress Demo for Entropy. While you may not have a membership, it is free to take advantage of the demos/forums and information contained in them. You can read all of it. You just can't post there.

Here's the Entropy Wordpress Demo: demo.rockettheme.com/wordpress/?theme=entropy

Read up on the developers.google.com/webfonts/ . How they appear will depend on how/where you apply them and by how you code/style your content/modules.

Google fonts are free for all to use, even in printed material. You just can't sell the "fonts" themselves in any way (like in Font Packages, that kind of thing). For more info, read their terms of use. RT has been including this feature for some time now in all their templates.

Is she after the graphics or is she after the functions? Have her sit down and take a look at the WP Demo..... CLOSELY. If your boss is so stuck on Entropy, have her fork out the $75 for a WordPress membership (which she'll need if she wants to run a legal copy of Entropy on WordPress) and then you can help her out with installation. It's far cheaper in the long run than trying to have you mod something that most likely won't work because it wasn't coded properly by RT.

That way you'll keep your hair (as in won't be pulling it out trying to modify something which you shouldn't be doing anyway cause these guys work hard for what little we pay them), you won't spend needless hours trying to mod a Joomla template over to WordPress, you'll have upgrades AND support. It's a heck of a deal for you both.

And next time, back that site up before you delete it! (Can you say "A KEE BA") I'm sure your server has a backup copy within a week of deletion, in case you may have forgotten that in your obvious state of frustration. If they don't keep backups for you, WE need to have a talk before you go any further.

Hope that helped in some way.
      Carol
