Weird crap on hostmonster

hi,
two of my sites running on hostmonster had the same problem within a few days of each ohter- blank 1st page
track the problem down to a TEND_IF error in the template's default.php
even if i switch to another template - same problem also saw that the joomla .htaccess was replaced by a wordpress .htaccess on one site.
I restored the 1st site from back up and that worked.. another site had quite a few changes and updates since the last backup that i couldnt restore from backup- but this worked:
was running a _j16 theme on joomla 1.7.3, and i couldnt edit the theme settings using the extensions menu.
I updated joomla to 2.5- still blank site page, then I installed the joomla 2.5 version theme and updated gantry.. and like magic everything worked- had to remod the template.
I'm not sure whats causing this.. because one the the site is working and then blank page on another day. Not sure if hostmonster changed their configuration or was hacked etc. - Online Video Editing: http://www.sarolta.tv
