Need help using Rocket Launcher package with BlueHost, please help.

Posted 17 years 9 months ago
    • I have dowloaded the joomla_rt_elemetal package, and uploaded it to my BlueHost account. The problem I am encountering, is I cannot ever reach the native Joomla installer that is shown in the Rocket Launcher tutorials. The only way I even know how to access Joolma, is through the Fantastico application in BlueHost. When I use Fantastico, it downloads the latest version of Joomla, but it is my understanding that the Rocket Launcher package already has the latest version. Since I cannot access the Joomla installer, I cannot follow the directions in the tutorial. The tutorial makes it sound so easy, but it does not really explain how to access the installer, it just says go to www.yourdomain.com , and poof like magic, the joomla installer is there...that has not worked for me. I also cannot access the installer by going to www.yourdomain.com/installation .

I was able to download the basic elemetal template via the TGZ file, but I want to use the full Rocket Launcher version. What am I missing here, and why can't I access the elusive Joomla installer shown in the tutorials? Please do not just provide a link, as I have read through all the tutorials, and the Joomla Guide PDF, but like mentioned above, when I go to my domain the installation tool is not there. I can only install Joomla from Fantastico, and there are no instructions on how to use the Rocket Launcher if you this too. Thank you.

    • Did you extract the files first before upload?

    • Most likely you installed your copy of RocketLauncher into a sub-directory and you will need to navigate to that particular directory for the installer to appear...

      for example:
if you ftp'd your RL files to the folder that is now named /rt_elemetal on the root of your server, you will have to navigate to www.yoursite.com/rt_elemental and it should launch for you as in the tutorial.

One word of advice, I recommend renaming you sub-folder to something a little more simple ie: /joom or /main, etc. before running the installation process.

    • James and Robert, thank you.

Robert, per your advice, I was able to point the browser to the correct file, and successfully ran the install. Thank you!

However, I am having trouble accessing the Joomla administration feature. When I downloaded via Fantastico, I would simply type www.yourdomain.com/administrator.  ; Now, when I enter this url, I receive an error 404 Not Found. What am I missing here to reach the administration tools for the new Rocket Launcher template I can now view at my domain?

Thank you again, you guys provide an invaluable service.

      Best regards.

    • before you go too far, I recommend renaming your subfolder to something more simple than /Joomla_RT_Elemental.

Simply rename it something like /joom -or- /main or something easier for your visitors.
