Does anyone have any suggestions for a good software package that will assist me in tracking my sites SEO performance and to help me with some of the tasks involved with SEO.
I know there are lots of free tools out there but they are all a bit cumbersome and I have to hit several sites to look at all the info.
So what so I think I want to do.
1) Track ranking on major search engines for keywords- track this over time. It would be great if I could make notes so I can tell if a certain web page change made a difference in the ranking.
2) Assist in analyzing competitive sites
3) Help me in the submission of articles- THis is very tedious
4) Give me other page analysis tools for my site- I am not very knowledgeable so something that gives me the info I need in a clear format.
I do not necessarily need something that helps me send out requests for links- I am not a fan about getting links to my site from sites that are not related. So I do not need this function, do I?
Any suggestions would be a help. Too many places promise too much and it is hard to figure out which software is actually useful.

I agree and I use Google analytics. It is very easy to use and understand.
I was looking more for something that would track my rankings for keywords over time. There used to be some very good free tools for this but ovr teh last couple months they seem to have stopped working. So I am looking for a software package, even a commercial one, that would help me with this. Something that also helps do article submissions would be great too.

gives google analytics a run for it's $$... probably better than google actually. is commercial though.

arghh!!!
So many tools! So many ways to get confused........ I have spreadsheets trying to track all the different tools I use.....and now there are more of them.......I am drowning in information
