Site isnt working at all.

Fatal error: Call to undefined method JController::getInstance() in /home/content/65/4658965/html/components/com_content/content.php on line 17
that is the error I am getting, I found a web person on here. They built the site. Then when finished it crashed days later. They said they dont know what it is and they delivered a site and it was working at that point. I had godaddy restore it back to the day he put the site up and it went up. He said he fixed it but he couldnt tell me what he did, well around the same 5 days later. It's down again and I cant figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. To pay for a website that doesnt work doesnt seem fair to me.

I am sure this is a silly question at this point but I must ask. Did the person who built this site make backup copies throughout the process?
When I look in the location listed in the error message I see no site files at all just an images folder
in this location: /home/content/65/4658965/html
