Installed a template+gantry over an already installed one

by mistake, I've downloaded and Installed a template+gantry package over an already installed gantry library!
What will happen in this case? and how do I revert back?

- Hi, the worst that could happen is that it overwrites your existing Gantry, which is only bad if you've made changes to the core files, which you should never do anyway. If your template is already installed, it won't install if it's the same template so you should be fine. The only way to revert back is to restore a backup you made before you did this, which you should always do before you make any changes to your site.

Thanks for the explanation, I reverted back to my backup. Though i hadn't seen any problem cause it was the same template maybe as you say.
But actually I wanted to know, and maybe many other want to know about this issue, cause the mistake might always happen when downloading the template, as the files are named the same.
Maybe they should be named differently.

- Hi, Gantry will install over itself through the installer, as you don't have un-install first to update. Templates will not install through then installer if you already have them installed, you'll get a message saying it's already installed. When updating templates it's best to just upload the changed files via FTP.
