    • Hi Everyone, I have looked around and I have also looked at rokquickcart which is nice (if only I could have downloadable files on it, it would be perfect) anyways which is the best e-commerce for joomla 2.5?
I have used virtuemart before but not tried making it go with one of RT templets
I have also but not played with Ecwid (not sure about this one)

Any others that work well with RT Templets on key thig is that it lets me create a download section as this is the only thing I would be selling lol..

    • Hi Antony,

I have used Virtuemart and RedSHOP with 2.5 and they both have good and bad points.

On one site I am testing HikaShop but haven't used it on a live site yet.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • Recently done a small site for a client. Initially did some work in Redshop which in the end was an overkill and did require a fair bit of CSS and HTML hacking to get it the way I wanted it. That in itself is actually a good point as I'd rather have something I can hack to work than be stuck with something that I can't.

I'll now partially contradict myself and say I switched the client to ECWID because it worked straight off out of the box (well ECWID's box). Looked pretty good and there is some level of tweaking available to you. One irritation is that there doesn't seem to be an easy way to sync the users that are registered on ECWID with those that are/might be registered via Joomla/CB etc. And yes you can have downloadable products. ECWID is relatively new and does not have some of the more typical features of shopping cart e.g related products. In the pipeline (like all new software features)

    • thanks for that... I was looking at the EDWID but thought it was over priced at $17 mo, but like I said not played with it so may be worth the money..

David is Virtuemart easy (ish) to build into one of the RT templates ie making look and feel like the rest of the site.. like i said I dont want anything over kill because it will only be doing downloads
like i said in my last post rokquickcart would be perfect if it had that option.

    • I have used Ecwid in a Joomla site & I really like it. It is free up to 100 products. If you have more than 100 products it is $17 a month. Some features are only available with the $17 a month version also.

Virtuemart 2.0..6 is the latest version and it is easier to style than 1.X versions, and actually has the option to adopt styling from your template but this is limited to basics such as links and text etc.

It is free so you could download and test.

Actual layouts are changeable but as with all 3rd party extensions, the level of flexibility can be limited depending on your time and budget constraints.
