Slow XAMPP problem. Anyone else using XAMPP?
Posted 13 years 3 weeks ago
Hi
I installed XAMPP on Windows 7 64 for the express purpose of having a highspeed efficient development environment not subject to internet lag.
Page requests to the Voxel template are taking 13 seconds. Probably worse than live internet.
I've tried creating a modified hosts file as suggested here
cubicspot.blogspot.com.au/2010/07/fixing...localhost-under.html
And disabling Windows Firewall (less than satisfactory) as suggested here
www.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?t=25677
Nothing works.
Are there any other peopel using XAMPP on Windows 7?
What response times are you geting?
Any ideas on how to fix pease?

I switched to using Uniform server as its can also be used for production.
Have you turned on debug mode to see which modules are slowing the page load down.
I was having issues with rokgallery hanging page loads. Removed it and hey presto.

I went with WAMP instead.
Much faster like it should be.
Not sure why XAMPP performs so poorly on my Windows 7 64bit.

Ive had to switch to Wampserver 2.2 today due to compatability issues with either the apache or php.
Had a few issues with 64 bit dlls in php but have got some unoffial compiled 64 bit php 5.3.13 dlls.
I gave up with xampp a long time ago.
