    SOLVED Per menu item configuration

Posted 12 years 11 months ago
    • Hi,

I am using Diametric and wish to assign a particular custom style to a page; so in my quest to discover how to configure the template on a per menu item basis I chanced upon this movie ( gantry-framework.org/media/videos/menu_i...specific_control.mov ) and also read the associated page content. Unfortunately it is asking me to click on the defaults button and so forth but I am failing to find such items in the current install, perhaps because it is J2.5 and the video was made with an older version.
There is an assignment tab in template manager from where I can assign a menu item but then how do I change the styles of it in particular? I have also seen the tutorial in the demo page of the template but it is of no help either.

Can anyone please lead me through the steps of how to configure the layout, styles etc for a particular page without hurting the overall arrangement of the site.

      Many thanks in advance!

    • Hi,

First of all many many thanks for the prompt reply, it works! However, I still need to make some minor adjustments to it, I have attached a pdf for your better understanding. I want the footer and content positions above to not display for one page particularly so that I get a nice clean look on the home page of the site as I am hoping to use only couple of module positions only.

So pleas let me know if it is possible to disable the positions? I have disabled them from the layout tab in the template manager but they still show up.

      Thanks in Advance!

    • To hide the component area choose menu-item "featured articles" and set
      "display component" to "off".

You haven't really understood how module positions work (yet).
It's not a matter of unchecking them in the template-settings.
That only enables the override for the corresponding setting in the "master"-style of the template.

      The module positions are "conditional":
      That means ...
1.) if a module is published to a position
      or
2.) if a gantry-feature is enabled to show in position
      the position will show.

If none of 2 conditions above are true the position will collapse.

    • Hi,

Many thanks for the input, I have been able to configure it perfectly to my liking. And yes though there were no module displayed in that position I overlooked the gantry feature enabled so could not turn it off. Every single mistake is a learning step and thankfully I have the opportunity to ask for support from people like you!

      Regards!
