Tutorial configure JCE to not hide Embed Code & Javascript

    • If you have wondered why your embedded video code, ad code, or other javascript keeps disappearing after you have opened the article or custom HTML module for editing, odds are that you opened the article or module for editing saved it and because the editor is set to not allow Javascript by default when in WYSIWIG mode it cleaned it without you knowing it happened.

You can set the Joomla Content Editor (aka JCE) to allow Javascript so that when you edit such modules or articles it will not clean out the script when in WYSIWIG mode.

Since it is not a good idea to allow everyone with access to have this ability this should be done in a new Super User group "Editor Profile".

      Let's get started...

      1) If you have not yet done so, install the JCE editor component and go to your global configuration and in the "Site" tab to set the JCE editor as the default editor.

      2) Go to "Components > JCE Editor"

      3) Go to "Editor Profiles"

Please log in or register to see it.

      4) Check the "Default" profile and select the "Copy" button (upper right)
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

      5) Open the original "Default" profile for editing.

      6) Uncheck the "Super Users" group, save & close.
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

      7) Open the new copy of the default profile for editing.
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

      8) Uncheck all user groups except for the "Super Users" group, change the name to better describe what it is and select the "Editor Parameters" tab.

      9) Select the "Advanced" tab and set "Allow Javascript" to "Yes"

      10) Save and exit

      11) See what it should look like in WYSIWIG and with the editor toggled off.
