I have used Rockettheme for some time. There are a number of sites that I have that are using Joomla 1.5.26. For security purposes I need to upgrade Joomla to the latest 2.5.6. However these sites are using Rockettheme 1.5 templates. Do I expect them to all break when I upgrade the Joomla version? If so, will simply uploading the Rockettheme 2.5 template after the upgrade resolve everything? I have a number of sites and I'm freaking out about the magnitude of this task. Is there any advice for upgrading these sites seamlessly to Joomla 2.5 and the latest template?
So far my experiences range from "Damn, I wish I had never started this update!" to "Wasn't as bad as it could have been."
The templates and extensions will all need updating. My approach has been to list a site's extensions and templates. Create a new 2.5 site with correct versions of extensions and then use one of the migration tools.
You will have some stuff that will go wrong, that is the law of ugrades. One migration tool set my database table collation from UTF8 to Swedish Latin. Meant manually checking all tables as it seemed to only affect certain extensions. So long as you have a good backup that has been tested to a restore, then you should minimise your risks.
Hope this helps

LOL! Thanks so much, David. I was afraid it was going to be something like that. Actually that was what I was looking for - some kind of "system" to follow to do these upgrades. Looks like I'm just going to have to bite the bullet, take them one at a time and just see what happens.
Thanks so much for your reply. Wish me luck! . . .
