    none responsive

Posted 12 years 8 months ago
    • Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to disable the latest two themes responsive function entirly, or for certain pages/components ..

the reason behind my question is simply, most my components are not responsive yet

      Thanks

    • There is an option in the advanced settings of Fracture to set either 960px or 1200px fixed. This does not shut down responsive completely, it basically stops the resizing in desktop modes. The reason why you can still go much smaller, is that the responsive layout is the only way to support mobile on these newer templates.

    • Thanks for the reply Mr. Andy, but don't you think that this is unfortunate for websites who doesn't want to go responsive simply because they can't and their extensions are not responsive yet? I would want to go responsive but i just can't .. and i believe other template providers have added the option to switch responsive off, so i believe rocketheme and gantry can easily provide better than them ..

Is there a way to set this in the Kirigami template? It seems that everything on the page gets drastically larger when you stretch the screen over 1230. I have not seen this behavior with other bootstrap themes. It's just difficult to find images that are appropriate for such a large size. Thanks.

    • Not sure if that feature will be integrated.
But you Kirigami is not a Bootstarp-theme.
It's just using parts of code like some mixins and typography.
Right now there is some discussion going on about the fixed option.
Some want the template to be really fixed with no responsive behavior at all when you enable that feature. Some want to only skip the 1200px layout and keep the mobile layouts.

    • Thanks Henning. Yes, "some want to only skip the 1200px layout and keep the mobile layouts" would be a great option. I wonder if the media query for large displays could be set higher than 1200px for the short-term to eliminate any image sizing issues.

    • I guess the team will work backwards to add the Gantry4 stuff (Kirigami was built on G3).
I hope this won't take too long.

I think both options are great cuz,

some of us do prefer to have the same look in laptops and pcs but of course we want the website to adapt to mobile and tablets resolution

and some of us would appreciate the option to the fix width because some of us can't go responsive

Does anyone know if the 1.2 update for Kirigami addresses the ability to skip the 1200px layout? The update mentions "Added Fixed layout mode toggle". Not sure if this is the same thing or something else. Thanks.

    • It has an added toggle to set to fixed 960 or 1200, just like fracture has.
If you update the template and it looks broken, then you will have to resave their template settings to fix the layout.
