    Move to a new webhost

Posted 12 years 7 months ago
    • Hi!

I have moved over the entire site to a new host and encountered a problem with the template (Halcyon).
The template is not showing under Template Manager. I can see via ftp that the template is there.

Is there perhaps a way to configurate the excisting template or do I have to reinstall the whole template?
      (Joomla 2.5 is the version)

      Regards

    • not usre what method you used to move the site but Akeeba Backup is the easiest and most reliable way too copy and redeploy (i.e., move or restore) a Joomla site.

    • I just sent the backup via ftp to the new server och changed the configuration.php
I did the same procedure earlier with another site and that was no problem. But it was Joomla 1.5

In Extensions Manager I located Halcyon under Discover and some part of the template is visible in the front end. But no menus or articles in the backend??

    • yeah. It is hard to say what went wrong in that process but I highly recommend using Akeeba for this as it is so super easy once you learn how to do it.

All you do is install Akeeba on the old site and make a back up copy
then download the backup archive via ftp
then upload that archive to the new webroot
then upload the Akeeba Kickstart.php file
then brows tot he the webiste webroot trailing it with kickstart.php like so newsite.com/kickstart.php
then go through the step by step install process and ...
      VOILA!
