can i have two sites using the same database ?

hi all ...
i want to build another site using the same database of the old one so the users have access to the new one without needing to register again ... is that possible ? if yes is it recommanded or erros might occure ?

They can use the same database, just not the same tables

I believe,, and someone correct me if I am wrong,, if your original install made the default jos_ prefix then your second site could be something like jos1_ and yet another jos2_ etc etc
correct??

guys when i install joomla manually they just ask for the database name , the password and the prefix filde .. they don't ask for tables n anything else
im afraid that im gonna mess things up
i dont wanna mess things up cuz im about finishing the first site

- There is an option for tables, you may have to select a dropdown to reveal the table prefix section.

Isn't it that if you create a new site users go to jos_users (or something)? So if you create a new site with jos1_ it will be jos1_users. Your users will have to be moved or have to register again. Am I right?

ops there are components who do such things .. as usual i had no clue about it
so i don't have to have the same database for both sites thats much easier and less confusing .. amazing news thanks alian for helping me
