"Error" message that you showed few answers before is not error message responsible for Error 500 that you see on the web site. Please check your error log for correct error that is produced when you see error 500. Otherwise we won't move anywhere

- I strongly believe that you have file and folder permission issues on your site. Can you check if your php scripts are executed as apache user or you have FastCGI, Suphp, Suhosin enabled?

I have asked the hosting company to update the PHP, they unfortunately say it is not possible. I do not mind so much about the slide show not working, it is a bummer but not a huge loss, I would however be really grateful if you could help me get the Gallery to work.
do you think it is the outdated PHP that is causing the problem?
