Menu Item Alias not linking correctly in Iphone menu

Posted 12 years 6 months ago
    • I have a main menu item listed as a menu item alias so the middle "child" menu name does not appear in the URL. i.e. Actual link would be: www.xmaonline.com/get-involved/roadcrew but I changed it to a menu item alias so the actual URL is www.xmaonline.org/roadcrew .

***PLEASE NOTE*** If you are using your iphone and you directly insert this link ( www.xmaonline.org/roadcrew .) in the URL bar the page displays correctly. The problem is when you navigate to the actual page using menus.

Here is how to recreate the problem: Using an Iphone safari browser, go to www.xmaonline.com --> Click the menu heading "Get Involved" then --> Click "Road Crew" menu heading. The result is a menu URL of: http://www.xmaonline.org?/Itemid_178 along with a 404 Component not found error page.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

    • 1) your menu has way too many root items for iphone view. I would create a seperate menu with only 4 root items for iphone view.

      2) I did replicate this issue. I created a root menu item type = text separator then created a child item under it type = alias

      3) I will report this to the dev team but it may be some time before they have time to address the issue.

      4) In the meantime you can change the menu item type from Alias to External Link and use the relative url for the link. In my case the alias is features so I just entered features as the url.
