Need help with background color problem

Hi I'm a bit of a noob so I'm learning as I go. I have this page that I assigned a Rokgallery to:

That page is an article. How do I:
1. Change the background color of the entire page to #111111?
2. Remove everything along the bottom, that says "Published on Friday, 08 June 2012 10:02 Written by Super User" etc.? I set everything in the article editor to HIDE but it's still showing up. See the screenshot below:
