    • im builidng a site for a recruiter and using the Metropolis template. they want a very large, time lapse video banner with some slogans on it. i have created the videos in a couple of different formats, of course flash is the easiest to do, but i would very much like to have it accessible to IPads, etc. so i produced the video in an MP4 format, and embedded it with autoplay and loop enabled ( i am using JCE editor)... the problem when i embed the mp4 is that i dont know how to set the wmode to transparent, and the drop down menus go BEHIND the video.. im assuming there is some code to set the wmode to transparent, but im not a coder, does anyone else have any experience with this?

i am also worried about the video, either in flash or mp4, not auto resizing, since this is a responsive template, i dont want it to stay a static size in pixels if the whole template is shrinking to fit the viewing area... how can i make that happen?

also, im trying to get everything to to appear flush, and no margins, i have put 'nomarginall', and 'nopaddingll' in the module parameters, but the content area still has margins, is there anyway to eliminate the margins on the content area? here is the beta site i have so far:

    • Hi there,

With video I think you will have a problem as most extensions demand a fixed size. Only thing I can think of is to create several versions and make the modules dependent upon device using the suffixes like mobile-hidden and mobile-visible etc.

No margins and padding work well. That is until all your content is inserted between <p></p> tags which have a default bottom margin of 10px. Set content between <span> tags rather than <p> tags.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • Hi John,

I believe the wmode is usually set when creating the video. I know that some video modules do allow you to toggle it on/off. I will take a look at JCE and see if I can work it out. Are you using the media manager to achieve this with JCE?

    • yes, i installed media manager and used it. it has a wmode parameter for flash, but not for HTML5... i will have to manipulate the video in handbrake and adobe after effects too, if i can set the transparency with them, that will work too

    • ugh, ok after much trial and error, i gave up using mp4 video, becaue it doesnt support transparency apparently. so im going with flash, the customer is ok with it. so i got it all nicely done, it looks nice. but now, it displays perfectly in firefox and chrome, but in IE it has this huge (265 px) gap of white space below the menu and above the video... what is causing that? i took the video out, and its still there... im stumped

    • Hi John,

Looking with IE developer tools it appears that you have 3 modules in the header 3|5|4

The last module is showing as being a logo yet I see no image. It is this module that is causing the problem. Try unpublishing it or check the code in the module content.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • sigh... ok i forgot about that blank logo block, i was trying to get the red block and the menu to be flush, i have that working now... it was a long story. but here the bigger issue im having now: everything looks perfect in FF and Chrome but IE is only displaying the whole template at 960 px, and its cutting everything off... is this normal? how can i fix it?

    • Hi John,

I guess you are referring to IE8 as this is fixed at 960 by default as it cannot handle some of the code required. Should work fine in IE9.
